How to add a confidential watermark to a PDF
Use Add Watermark to place user-entered text such as CONFIDENTIAL over all or selected PDF pages. You can choose its position, size, opacity, rotation, and margin, but the result is a visible text overlay rather than access control or digital rights management.
Enter and position the label
Open Add Watermark, choose one PDF, and replace the default DRAFT text with CONFIDENTIAL or the exact notice your workflow requires.
- Choose one of nine positions.
- Adjust font size, opacity, rotation, and margin.
- Use text that the tool’s Helvetica font can encode.
Choose all or selected pages
Keep All pages selected for a document-wide mark. To limit the overlay, choose Selected pages and then select the required page previews in the grid.
Apply and review readability
Select Add watermark, download the watermarked copy, and inspect light and dark pages. Confirm that the notice is visible without obscuring information users still need to read.
Limitations
- A text watermark is not encryption, DRM, permission enforcement, redaction, or a guarantee against copying or removal.
- The tool adds one user-entered text style per run and does not add image logos or different labels to different selected pages.
