How to assess browser PDF tools for sensitive documents
PDFNova performs its supported merge, split, rotate, delete, reorder, page-number, text-watermark, and metadata operations in the browser without sending PDF contents to its application server. That boundary can reduce application-server exposure, but it does not establish absolute confidentiality or make every environment suitable for sensitive work.
Choose only a supported operation
Review the current tools and capabilities before selecting a file. PDFNova supports merging, splitting, rotating, manually deleting pages, reordering, adding page numbers, adding text watermarks, and updating supported metadata.
It does not currently edit existing paragraph text or embedded images, perform OCR, convert Office files, or provide document account storage.
Evaluate the complete environment
Use an appropriately managed device and browser profile, review extensions and local policies, and choose a safe download location. PDFNova’s browser-local design cannot control the operating system, browser, extensions, network software, backups, or other applications.
Understand product analytics
Enabled analytics records limited product interactions and counts, not filenames, PDF contents, extracted text, metadata, passwords, or generated files.
Review and dispose of outputs appropriately
Open the downloaded result, verify the intended transformation, and follow your organisation’s retention and disposal rules for both source and output files. A successful browser operation is not a substitute for a document-handling policy.
Limitations
- Browser-local processing describes PDFNova application-server handling and is not a confidentiality, security, compliance, or threat-model guarantee.
- Some encrypted, malformed, oversized, or unsupported PDFs cannot be processed, and current free limits still apply.
