How to change PDF title and author metadata

Open PDF Metadata to read the supported document information, then edit the Title and Author fields and save a new copy. Empty fields are cleared, so check every loaded value before applying the update.

Use PDF Metadata

Load the current document information

Choose one PDF and wait while PDFNova reads its filename, size, page count, PDF version, and editable metadata fields. Do not save until the editor has finished loading the selected file.

Edit title and author

Enter the intended Title and Author. You may also review subject, comma-separated keywords, creation date, and modification date in the same editor.

  • Leave a supported text field empty only when you intend to clear it.
  • Use the accepted ISO format for date values.
  • Select Save metadata and download the metadata-updated copy.

Verify outside the editor

Open the downloaded PDF in a viewer that displays document properties. Confirm the title and author there because some viewers cache metadata or display a filename instead of the internal title.

Limitations

  • Metadata changes do not alter visible paragraph text, page artwork, embedded images, bookmarks, or the downloaded filename.
  • A PDF viewer or search index may cache old properties or choose not to display every supported field.
