How to split a PDF by page range
Use Split PDF’s Custom ranges mode to create one output for each comma-separated range. An entry such as 1-3,6,9-11 produces three ordered groups, using the document’s visible page numbers starting at one.
Enter valid custom ranges
Open Split PDF, choose one PDF, select Custom ranges, and type the required groups in the Page ranges field.
- Use a hyphen for a continuous range, such as 4-8.
- Use commas between output groups, such as 1-3,6,9-11.
- Keep every page number within the source document and include each page at most once.
Create and identify the outputs
Select Split PDF. A single range downloads as one PDF; multiple ranges are packaged in split-pages.zip, with filenames that identify each requested range.
Check every range
Extract the ZIP when applicable and open each output. Confirm that its first and last pages match the requested range before distributing or archiving it.
Limitations
- Custom ranges cannot overlap, repeat a page, run backwards, or refer to a page outside the document.
- This workflow copies existing pages; it does not split text, tables, or images within a page.
